GENERAL DUTIES:

Under the direction of the Chief Perfusionist, providing cardiopulmonary bypass and backup for the heart program. Duties include both adult and pediatric perfusion, with proficiency in all necessary monitoring. The staff perfusionist will also assist in the selection of appropriate materials for bypass, both disposables and hardware. Responsibility toward blood conservation, myocardial protection techniques, and blood gas testing is also emphasized. Job duties involve some participation in quality review of perfusion related service. On-call responsibility will be up to 50% of the call, splitting coverage with the other staff. Autotransfusion on call coverage will be required from time to time in both a primary and supervisory role. In addition to the daily duties involved in covering heart cases, the staff perfusionist will participate in clinical research projects where input or support from a perfusionist is needed. Required:

1. Perfusionist with documentation of having completed a perfusion program

2. Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (maintain current at all times)

3. Experience of no less than one hundred and fifty cases (150)

4. ABCP Certification or Board eligible.

5. Experience in pediatric perfusion, autotransfusion, and the use of IABP.
