A Laboratory Assistant has the licensure, education, training, and experience to ensure proper specimen collection, specimen labeling, and performance of bedside glucose testing/phlebotomy duties. Demonstrates the ability to serve all specific age groups including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Transports, logs in and performs specimen handling and testing in a timely manner. Assumes responsibility for the safety of self and patients and follows all laboratory and hospital policies and procedures. Maintains a professional image as a laboratory representative to all patients.



The PRN Phlebotomist will work on an as needed basis to cover various shifts. Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays and cover call for the department.


-High school diploma or GED.

-ASCP or ASPT registry preferred.

-Current Louisiana license or applied for within 60 days of date of hire.

-One year of experience preferred.
