PHARMACY TECH PER DIEM
Job Description
JOB SUMMARYThis person provides assistance in the compounding and distribution of medications, and performs tasks related to the daily operation of the pharmacy. Works under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.
Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of drugs and supplies and ensuring that all are viable before use. Drug stock will be rotated so that the oldest material will be used first.
Works in conjunction with other employees within the Department, and with other patient care staff.
Maintains confidentiality of workplace information according to the policies and procedures of the institution.
Direct patient interaction on a daily basis.
Works in conjunction with other employees within the department or institution.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in the Pharmacy and patient care areas. Nature of environment includes exposure to infectious agents and illness, flammable materials, poisons, carcinogens, radioactivity and hazardous chemicals.
EXPERIENCE
Three years experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital setting, or graduate of a pharmacy technician-training program
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION
High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of a pharmacy technician training program and/or State or National Pharmacy Technician certification is required.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
Ability to perform detail oriented work.
Ability to use computerized systems.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations for medication and solution preparation.
Knowledgeable in pharmaceutical-medical terms, abbreviations, and symbols.
