TECH - PHARMACY I - PER-DIEM - DAYS
Job Description
Works under the direct supervision of the pharmacist at all times. Responsible for drug distribution and intravenous admixture throughout the hospital. ·Initial round, check patients IV's, check floor stock, check oral feedings.
·Note and adjust as necessary patient IV solutions on floors, check IV
·Record refrigerator and freezer temperature, hood cleaning record (laminar and bio).
·Using aseptic technique prepare IV's and IVPB ( 1001-1600). Leave vials and syringes out for pharmacists to check. Place MDV's in refrigerator for next use. Thaw out IVPB PRN and date accordingly.
·Order IV's and Piggy backs prom purchasing.
·Deliver IV's and floor stock. Note discharge patients, pick up DC'd/ missed IV's and IVPB and credit.
·Fill medications not stocked in Pyxis cart placing PRN Medications in back of cassettes. Let Pharmacist know of credits and charges during cart fill. Credit meds for any discharged patients. Restock unit dose area. Order meds PRN (Want Book).
·Stock Pharmacy solution, IVPB's, and Injectables
·Fill Medication bags
·Deliver med bags. **Answer phones
·Restock all Pyxis medications.
·Billing responsibilities
·Unpack Bergen Brunswig order, sign invoices, copy and place on Tom's desk. Inform Chuck or Tom of any errors.
High School Graduate
Current registration with the California Board of Pharmacy as a Technician .
Preference given for one year experience in a hospital pharmacy, including unit dose, drug distribution and intravenous admixture.
Requires knowledge of drug names, pharmacy math and sterile technique. Requires good English communication skills.
