Job Description
Under the supervision of the Cardiopulmonary Services Medical Director and the Department Director, the Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing Respiratory Therapy and Cardiac Diagnostic Testing services in accordance with specific physician’s orders and department policies and procedures. The Respiratory Therapist may be required to deliver respiratory care services to patients in all areas of the hospital (e.g., intensive care units, medical and surgical floors, emergency departments, post-anesthesia care units and infant nurseries.) The therapist must be able to adapt to the particular area of duty assignment and must be able to perform special duties required by the assignment. Standards of performance for the area to which the individual is assigned must be maintained. The Respiratory therapist coordinates and provides direct patient care, participates in patient and family teaching and works cooperatively with all patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional Respiratory Care practice in the clinical setting. The therapist may be assigned orientation and inservice education responsibilities. Respiratory Therapist are generally expected to perform their duties and responsibilities with only minimal or indirect supervision and must frequently make independent decisions.TRAINING: Completion of an accredited Respiratory Care Practitioner Program LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: Current/Valid California RCP License, AHA BLS and PALS required. NRP and ACLS recommended. Experience: 1 to 2 years
