Purpose of Job: To assist the physicians, nursing, and clinical staff to schedule, examine, and treat patients. To performs a wide range of facilitating services in a medical treatment area.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Performs all Clinical Assistant I duties and responsibilities.
2. Is responsible for performing the following procedures under the delegation and supervision of a nurse: Vital signs, height, weight; orthostatical blood pressure; documentation; application of pulse oximetry; peak flow; visual acuity; occult blood testing; blood testing; blood glucose testing-Surestep; EKGs; ear irrigation, demonstrates, and follows sterile technique; assists with diagnostic set-up/instrument cleaning; negative PPD reading; non-medicated enema; suture removal; oxygen tank use; oxygen administration placement-nasal cannula and mask; Holter monitor placement; reinforces crutch management; placement of arm sling/ace wrap; and throat culture.
3. Enters information about medical examination and treatment in patient records and forwards records for filing.
4. As appropriate, provides information and instructions to patients as directed by the medical and nursing staff.
5. Transports patients in wheelchairs to other treatment areas
6. Cleans, sterilizes and prepares examination rooms and medical instruments and supplies following regulatory standards and regional policies.
7. Performs other related duties as directed
Minimum Qualifications
Experience
. One year of related clinical experience is required.
. Demonstrated and validated skills of competencies prior to being hired or promoted into this role are required.
Education and Training
. High school diploma or equivalent is required.
. Knowledge of regulatory requirements, Standard (Universal) Precautions and disinfection, and sterilization procedures is required
License, Certifications, Other Credentials
. Certified Nursing Assistant for the state of MD, DC or VA required.
. Current CPR certification is required upon commencement of employment.
Other Qualifications
. Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software.
. In order to work effectively with patients, must have effective interpersonal and communication skills and be able to stand, walk, bend, lift at least 50 pounds, hear, speak, and see.
