QC Lead Mammographer

Under the supervision of the Imaging Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor, performs a variety of diagnostic mammography procedures and departmental support functions. Utilizes departmental policies and procedures in meeting patient needs, adheres to proper quality utilization and risk management policies and practices. Performs imaging procedures for patients of both genders and all ages.

Duties and Responsibilities
. Performs all functions of the Mammography Technologist job.
. Collaborates with department supervisor in establishing policy, procedures and protocols.
. Implements and maintains departmental quality control program under the direction of the Assistant or Imaging Supervisor. Monitors documentation of quality control programs to include recording equipment malfunctions and service needs.
. Responsible for the accuracy and quality of exams produced by technologist.
. Submits monthly Reject Analysis report to the Assistant Supervisor.
. Checks technologist work to ensure procedural completeness within a reasonable length of time with minimal or no error in technique.
. Instructs and trains new technologists to operate radiographic equipment until proficiency is established.
. Trains existing staff in new or revised procedures.
. Responds to problematic work situations; performs highest level of technical duties and exams
. Actively participates in QI/RM activities; identifies and responds to patient care in departmental situations that impact the quality of care and/or create risk.
. Documents exception occurrences on appropriate forms to resolve QI/RM issues; prepares information necessary for completing monthly QA reports.
. Provides input into employee performance appraisals; coaches employees according to QC guidelines.
. Performs other related duties as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
. Three years experience as a radiographer with ARRT status.
. Must maintain ARRT status throughout employment.
Education and Training
. High School diploma or equivalent required.
. Associate of Arts degree preferred.
. Graduation from approved school of radiology.
License, Certifications, Other Credentials
. Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist required.
. Applicable state license required.
. Current CPR or must acquire within three months of hire.
. Advanced certification is required.
Other Qualifications
. Must meet the minimum competencies and qualifications of the technologist job.
