Description: Description: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Maintains established department policies and procedures.
2. Utilizes good radiation safety practices for patients, self and others by use of available devices.
3. Displays competency operating equipment and performing procedures.
4. Always provides written documentation on the exam requisition stating the reason(s) the exams are being done. Initials all requisitions signifying they performed exam(s).
5. Routinely enters all the required information and documentation into the department computer system accurately and efficiently.
6. Educates patient, family and others, as appropriate, in regard to procedures the patient may be having. Provides the necessary documentation as appropriate.
7. Displays knowledge of various drugs and contrast media utilized. Displays competency injecting contrast media, if required.
8. Practices good sterile technique when required and utilizes universal precautions and other infection control practices as appropriate.
9. Maintains MRI scanner and other equipment in good operating order; communicates the need for repairs to supervisor, especially electrical and mechanical hazards.
10. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas and assures that rooms are stocked with the necessary supplies and accessories.
11. Participates in CQI activities as requested.
12. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
13. Able to perform the clerical functions of order entry and film sign out with use of computer system as well as being able to file/retrieve films and hang and remove films from film viewers.
14. Covers call and responds appropriately.
15. Displays competency in the use of teleradiology system.
16. Displays competency performing procedures and communicating with various age groups.
17. Displays a thorough knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and positioning as it relates to performance of MRI scan procedures.
18. Displays ability to function as a radiologic technologist when requested.
19. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
1. Graduate AMA approved school of radiologic technology.
2. Registry by the ARRT in MRI Scanning preferred.
3. Minimum of two years MRI tech experience required.
4. Quality Control experience preferred.
5. 3-D experience preferred.
6. Basic knowledge of department and hospital information systems.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
1. ARRT-R-National in Radiology and MRI preferred.
2. Current BLS Healthcare Provider Card.
