EEG TECH INT - PRN
Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Performs EKG testing as needed with 100% compliance on yearly check-off by supervisor. To be determined by supervisor.
2. Performs stress testing as needed. Documentation and processing of testing is complete and without error. To be determined by supervisor.
3. Prepares patients for examination and explains purpose and procedure to patient and/or family prior to and during procedure(s). Applies to all tests employee is required to perform (i.e.: EEG, Evoke Potential, EKG, Stress Test, etc.).
4. Notifies neurologist of any abnormal results that may need immediate attention.
5. Performs all necessary paperwork, charting and charging for procedures.
6. Organizes and maintains files on all neurodiagnostic and cardiology (as applicable) tests. Keeps work area organized, clean and stocked.
7. Coordinates schedule with on-call personnel. Covers stats as needed.
8. Assists with Cardiology procedures (EKG, Stress Testing, Muse Editing, etc.).
9. Maintains professional licensure, credentialing and required competencies (i.e.: REEGT, ACLS, etc.) in a current status at all times as required by the minimum qualifications of this position.
10. Manages routine assignments independently, manages time appropriately, prioritizes when managing assignments.
11. Documents complete care of patient. Performs thorough patient assessment and documents completely, completes necessary forms for tests and complete all appropriate charting on treatment flow sheets.
12. Collaborates in data collection and implementation of ongoing performance improvement standards.
13. Critical thinking skills are evident in providing patient care as demonstrated through direct observation and feedback. Assesses critical care patients and monitors status. Documentation is completed appropriately.
14. Demonstrates knowledge of, observes and complies with practices of hospital and departmental policies (i.e.: Emergency/Disaster Plan, Standard Precautions/Infection Control Practices and Safety Policies).
15. Works as a team player, willing to help and assist others.
16. Assumes responsibility for personal and professional development and continuing education by attending departmental meetings, hospital events and classes, etc.
17. Participates in staff education.
18. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
1. R.EEG.T Required.
2. HS Diploma / GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. Minimum of two (2) years experience performing EEG’s. Evoke Potentials optional.
4. Experience in adult and pediatric EEG’s.
5. Skilled in EKG’s.
6. Two (2) years of stress test experience preferred.
7. Basic computer skills.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
1. ABRET credentialed/certified to perform EEG’s.
2. Current BLS Healthcare Provider Card.
3. ACLS card within three months of hire.
