Opportunity to join St Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center! The Division Chief of Hospital Medicine will be responsible for the comprehensive oversight for the division, notably including all faculty academic, educational and clinical activities.I. ADMINISTRATIVE
A. Serve on Quality Committees
B. Serve on Utilization Review Committees
C. Assist the Program Director in Residency education matters:
1. Serve as faculty advisor
2. Provide resident evaluations
3. Provide structured clinical evaluations
4. Assist in curriculum development
5. Adhere to ACGME Program Requirements for Residency Education in Internal Medicine regarding faculty expectations
D. Participate in the creation of Care Pathways and Disease Management Protocols
II. CLINICAL
A. Inpatient medical attending responsibilities
1. General Medicine wards
2. Patient management in Clinical Decision Unit in Emergency Department
3. General Medicine Consult service
4. Participate in On Call and Weekend rotations
5. Provide direct patient care on resident-uncovered medical service
B. Ambulatory responsibilities
1. Supervise UrgiCare
2. Supervise Post-Discharge clinic
3. Provide Pre- and Peri-Operative evaluations and management
C. Faculty clinical FTE assignment will be 0.70 FTE
D. Other clinical responsibilities as assigned by the Chairman
III. MEDICAL EDUCATION
A. Medical students
1. Provide clerkship rotation lectures
2. Supervise student patient care activities
3. Review student patient write-ups (H&Ps)
4. Provide student feedback and evaluations
B. Residents
1. Supervise patient care activities
2. Provide lectures
3. Attend noon conferences as requested
4. Attend Morning Report
5. Attend Morbidity and Mortality Conferences
6. Attend Grand Rounds / Visiting Professor Lectures
7. Assist in selection of Visiting Professors
C. Curriculum
1. Will assume responsibility for curriculum design for Inpatient medicine
2. Participate in annual departmental curriculum review
IV. SCHOLARLY/ACADEMIC
A. Assist residents and medical students in scholarly activities
B. Develop an academic area of interest/specialty or niche
C. Publish or present at least one abstract or scholarly paper per year
D. Participate in National Societies or Committees pertinent to unique area of interest
E. Establish appointment at the University of Arizona or Creighton University with the assistance of the Academic Chairman
