			Progressive Coronary Care Unit-

 <BR>

The 20NT Progressive Coronary Care Unit is a 48 bed unit designed and staffed to provide for, but not limited to, patients who require telemetry monitoring. Every bed has invasive and non-invasive blood pressure and pulse oximetry monitoring capabilities.<BR>
 <BR>
The 20NT serves stable Adult and Geriatric medical cardiology patient populations who do not require critical monitoring. Also, stable post cardiac catheterization, PTCA and EPS study patients are admitted to this unit.<BR>
<BR>
<BR>

The RN assesses, plan, implements and evaluates patient care and in collaboration with other health care professionals and in accordance with licensure standards.  The RN provides leadership in maintaining standards of patient care, customer service, and direction of the multidisciplinary patient care team.<BR>
 <BR>

Prefer at least one year RN experience in a hospital setting.
Graduate Nurses are welcomed at periodic intervals depending on preceptor availability
Ongoing validated competency as required both generally and within unit parameters as they relate to the patient population needs.
 Ability to provide support to patient, family members and visitors in order to enhance comfort and security. 
 Computer skills
 Effective communication and interpersonal/behavioral skills
 Customer service orientation skills in problem solving
 ACLS certification

			Job Summary:<BR>
The Emergency Department PNP is professionally responsible to provide the patients with excellence of practice as demonstrated by competent, safe care mandated by standards set forth by St. Christopher&#39;s Hospital for Children policies/procedures, nursing policies/procedures, JCAHO Standards, PNP Scope of Practice and Standards.  The Nurse Practitioner is a member of a multidisciplinary team that provides clinical services within a model of family centered care, engages in research activities and educates multidisciplinary professionals.  This PNP provides leadership for the staff of the Emergency Department and clinical management of patients cared for in the Emergency Department.  The PNP practice takes place in the Emergency Department.  However, St. Christopher&#39;s extends practice privileges to other settings within SCHC when patients in those settings are in need of evaluation and acute intervention.   <BR>
 <BR>
Skills &amp; Abilities:<BR>
The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner shall be an integral part of the Emergency Medicine team, directly supervised by the Emergency Medicine physicians and Pediatricians in the Emergency Department.<BR>

Administrative<BR>

Perform the role of clinical lead PNP in conjunction with the Department director, Medical Director, and Director of Urgent care including the following responsibilities:

 
Scheduling of all PNP shifts
Orientation of all new PNPs to the department as well as to job responsibilities
Supervision in conjunction with department designee of continued education of PNPs
Attendance at Department operations meeting monthly
Assistance with assessment of Focused Professional Practice Evaluation as well as Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation
Assistance with Departmental quality projects
Education and ongoing training in conjunction with Director of Child Protection and ED Director of Child Protection of PNPs in the role of SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner)



                                                               i.      Assist with development and maintenance of a dedicated PCP SANE program<BR>

Clinical<BR>
1.       Perform patient assessment, including physical examination on designated patients.<BR>
 <BR>
2.       Present a medical plan to the Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Attending, based on initial and ongoing clinical assessment<BR>

3.       After discussion with the Attending or in clinical situations that are protocol driven:<BR>

·         Implement a medical management plan<BR>
·         Initiate and coordinate appropriate consultation services and diagnostic interventions<BR>
·         Initiate and coordinate appropriate therapeutic interventions<BR>
4.       Relate to families and patients as a responsible member of the Emergency Medicine team and when appropriate as the designee of the Emergency Medicine Attending.<BR>

Education:<BR>
1.       Assist in the education of house staff<BR>

·         Supervise the performance of house staff as a designee of the Emergency Medicine/Pediatrician attending<BR>
2.       Assist in the education of the nursing staff<BR>
